ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ? The University of Missouri baseball team picked up a 7-3 win Saturday over New Mexico in the second day of action in the Applebee's Baseball Fiesta at the Albuquerque Sports Stadium.
The Tigers scored four runs in the second inning and added three runs in the fifth frame to record their third win of the season. MU is 3-1-1.
In the second, Wes Fewell reached on a bunt single to open the inning. Kurt Propst singled with one out to drive in Fewell who advanced to second on an error and moved to third on a fly out. Luke Cassis reached on an error and Jayce Tingler walked to load the bases with two outs. W.T. Hoover was hit by a pitch to force in Propst before Ryan Stegall drove in two runs with a single to left field.
After two outs were recorded in the fifth inning, Jon Williams tripled to center before Wes Fewell doubled. Cody Ehlers walked and Propst was hit by a pitch. Fewell scored on an errant throw by the catcher. Mick Weiss walked to load the bases before Cassis walked to force in Ehlers for the Tigers' third run of the inning and seventh of the game.
Fewell and Propst each had two hits to lead Missouri.
Matt Hobbs scattered eight hits in six innings to pick up his second win of the season. Pete Sansone recorded his first save of the season.
Missouri closes play in the Applebee's Baseball Fiesta Sunday against Utah.
