Columbia, Mo.-In a turnaround from its previous nights' performance, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rebuffed a 34 percent shooting game netting 51 percent from the floor and 53 percent from behind the arc to top Southeastern Louisiana 97-48. The Islanders kept SELU to shooting just 29 percent from the floor and 25 percent from three-point range in the consolation game of the 2001 Unilever Lady Tiger Classic.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dominated the game from the tip. The Islanders shot 58 percent from the field in the first half netting 21-of-36 attempts. Southeastern Louisiana struggled through the period hitting just 14 percent from the floor and 17 percent from three-point range to leave the half with a 46-12 deficit. Despite coming back in the second period to score 36 points, TAMUCC posted 51 and waltzed away with the victory.
Five Islanders scored in double digits. Amanda Bryant came in off the bench to lead the team with 18 points netting 8-of-15 from the floor, including 2-of-5 from three-point range. Roberta Plaza put up 14 points for the Islanders shooting 5-of-11. She also led the team pulling down nine rebounds and three blocks. Kristin Rogers, Jessie Monlux and Anna Hartzell each recorded 10 points in the game.
Southeastern Louisiana was led by Dana Noto and Pam Mathews who each scored 11 points. Ann Webster led SELU with five rebounds in the game.
The victory takes Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 5-2 season record and drops Southeastern Louisiana to 1-4 on the year.
