Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics unveiled a new video board system Saturday afternoon at the MU men's basketball exhibition game vs. the EA Sports All Stars.
The boards were installed this week, and replace the old message display center in each side of the scoreboard structure above mid-court.
Here's a brief fact-sheet concern the new system:
? The video projection system consists of four high brightness video projectors manufactured by Sharp that have been permanently affixed to the underside of the scoreboard.
? The projectors show images on four rigid acrylic screens from the Dalite Screen Corporation. The screens were manufactured specifically for this application. Incorporating millions of tiny lens, the screens are coated with a special material to absorb, or scatter room light, thereby enhancing contrast and brightness of projected images.
? Images on the screen will be approximately seven feet wide and can be seen from more than 45 degrees on either side of the centerline.
? The conversion will cost around $100,000, and has been done as an added-service to patrons. Each men's and women's basketball game, and many other Hearnes events, will be produced using the same technical equipment and personnel who bring fans Tiger Vision for football games.
? The system was designed and installed by the Technical Services Department at the MU Academic Support Center.
