HOUSTON - The Houston Astros announced on Monday that they have set the club's 40-man roster in advance of Tuesday's Major League deadline. The Astros 40-man roster is currently comprised of 35 players: 20 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders, and five outfielders. Twenty-five of the 35 players spent at least part of the season with the Astros last year.
Jamison recently went 3-1 in the Arizona Fall League. He recorded a 2.73 earned-run average with 25 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched. Jamison pitched two scoreless innings as his team, the Phoenix Desert Dogs, picked up a 12-8 victory over the Grand Canyon Rafters in the Arizona Fall League Championship Game.
Seven players were added to the roster on November 16 when their contracts were purchased from Triple A New Orleans: outfielder Jason Lane, righthanded pitchers Ryan Jamison, Brandon Puffer, Rodrigo Rosario and Tom Shearn, and catchers John Buck and Raul Chavez.
Jamison, 23, was a combined 9-4 with a 2.83 ERA (32 ER/101.2 IP) at Class A Lexington and Double-A Round Rock last season. He was 4-2 with a 2.28 ERA (14 ER/55.1 IP) in nine games (eight starts) at Lexington before being promoted to Round Rock. With the Express, Jamison went 5-2 with a 3.50 ERA (18 ER/46.1 IP) in 10 games (nine starts). He was recently named the Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week for his work with the Phoenix Desert Dogs. He was a 17th-round draft pick of the Astros in the June 1999 draft.
Jamison ranks in the following all-time career categories at Missouri: saves (5th, 10), appearances (6th, 71) and strikeouts (9th, 200).
