Missouri junior quarterback Kirk Farmer and sophomore offensive lineman Rob Droege have been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII Squad. The team was selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Farmer, a communication major with a 3.32 GPA, has started seven of Missouri's nine games this season. He has a 50.4 completion percentage and has 13 touchdown passes. He threw for a career-high 360 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers win over Baylor last weekend. Farmer also has passing days of 246 yards against Kansas and 243 yards against Oklahoma State this season. Along with his passing numbers he has rushed for 249 yards, scoring twice. In 1999 he was a first-team academic all-conference selection.
Droege is a Social Studies Education major with a 3.75 GPA. He has played in all nine of MU's games, starting six. Droege is part of a Missouri offensive line has allowed the fewest sacks in the Big 12 Conference. That offensive line has helped the Tigers compile two 200-yard rushing games (229 vs. Iowa State and 231 vs. Kansas). Missouri also posted 531 yards of total offense against Baylor. Droege was named to the academic all-conference first team in 2000.
Farmer and Droege are now eligible for selection to the Verizon Academic All-American Team.
