
Missouri Soccer Defeates Iowa State 1-0

Ames, Iowa-The University of Missouri women's soccer team ties up its Big 12 Conference record to 2-2 after defeating Iowa State 1-0. The Tigers boost their season tally to 7-4. Iowa State drops to 3-6 on the year and 1-2 in Big 12 play.
The Tigers opened the first half firing on all six cylinders. Missouri dominated the first 45 minutes of the game offensively outshooting the Cyclones 8-to-2. Mizzou played a controlled period maintaining fluid passing lanes and solid defense. The Tigers scored the games' only goal when forward Adriene Davis capitalized on a ball knocked down by midfielder Suzy Probst sent in on a corner kick by Dyana Russell.
Iowa State turned up the juice in the second half, but the Tiger defense answered the call. Goalkeeper Megan Duncan had the play of the game making a diving save to defend a rocket-shot launched just five yards outside the box. The period proved to be a heated one resulting in 20 combined fouls and the expulsion of Missouri forward Melissa Peabody.
Overall, the Tigers outshot the Cyclones 10-to-5. The game also resulted in 32 total fouls. Duncan earns her fifth victory for Mizzou taking her season tally to 5-4, including three shutouts.
Missouri resumes Big 12 action against Colorado and Texas Tech next weekend. The Tigers face the Buffaloes on Fri., Oct. 12 at 4:00 p.m., in Boulder, Colo. The MU-TT game is scheduled for Sun., Oct. 14 at 12:00 p.m., in Lubbock, Texas.
