Lubbock, Texas - The University of Missouri women's soccer team defeated Texas Tech 4-1 to boost its season record to 9-4 with a 4-2 Big 12 Conference mark. The loss drops the Raiders to 3-11 on the year and 0-6 in league play.
The Tigers started the game slowly finding their rhythm. The beginning stutter allowed Texas Tech to post its only goal of the game when forward Melanie Brosnahan powered through the MU defense and won a ball sent in by midfielder Carrie Campbell. Being down 1-0 fanned the blaze for Mizzou, propelling the Tigers toward a furious comeback pace.
Adriene Davis put Missouri on the board at 30:02, freshman Tamara Kochen lobbed a deep pass through the Raider defense where Davis possessed and took the ball in for a goal.
Just 53 seconds later, Missy Peabody sunk the game-winner. Defender Carrie Crossett brought the ball from the midline and crossed it in from the right corner to Davis. The sophomore flicked a short pass inside where Peabody capitalized.
The Tigers gave the Raiders one more goal to think about before leaving the first period. Kochen lobbed a pass inside to forward Kristen Heil who snapped a shot on her outside right foot for the goal. It is Heil's first collegiate goal of her career.
Missouri reentered the second half ready to further reaffirm their position scoring the final goal of the game within the first five minutes of the period. Davis beat out the Raider defense to score an unassisted goal.
Overall, the Tigers outshot the Raiders 19-to-14. Goalkeeper Megan Duncan picks up the win for Missouri taking her season tally to 7-4. She made seven saves in the game and allowed on goal.
