Chipman Leads Cross Country Women at Pre-National Meet

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Junior Amy Chipman's 48th place finish at the Furman Invitational/NCAA Pre-National Meet helped the women's cross country team to a 20th place finish Saturday in Greenville, S.C. Chipman finished the 6K in 22:26.
Following Chipman and scoring points were senior Ann Marie Brooks in 85th (22:54), junior Kimberly Moore in 87th (22:55), freshman Jill Petersen in 104th (23:05) and Lesley Smith in 153rd (23:43). Freshman Serena Ramsey and sophomore Katherine Bonugli placed 159th and 183rd, respectively, but did not score points for the university.
No. 11 Georgetown University won the Purple race and finished with 48 points.
The men's cross country team had a tougher time Saturday, finishing in 31st place. Senior Steve Wade led the Tigers with a 83rd-place finish. Wade finished the Black Race, an 8K, in 26:04. Following Wade were senior Ryan Fitzgerald in 156th (26:58), freshman Josh Davis in 158th (27:00), sophomore Ryan Hampton in 195th (27:42) and freshman Miles Brown in 197th (27:43).
No. 2 Stanford won the race with 56 points.
Missouri's next cross country meet will be Oct. 27 when the teams travel to Norman, Okla. for the Big 12 Championships.
