Barr Does Not Make USA Basketball National Team

Following four days of trials featuring 33 of the nation's top women's collegiate basketball players, a total of 14 players have been chosen to the 2001 USA Basketball Women's World University Games Team.

The University of Missouri's Kerensa Barr was one of those competing for a spot on the team. However, Barr did not make the team.

The 2001 USA Basketball Women's National Team Trials were held Friday through Monday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Barr, who completed her sophomore season as the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet Sixteen, was one of seven Big 12 Conference players at the trials.

Named to the 2001 USA squad were: Chantelle Anderson (Vanderbilt), Cori Enghusen (Stanford), Chrissy Floyd (Clemson), Caton Hill (Oklahoma ), Kara Lawson (Tennessee), Ashley McElhiney (Vanderbilt), Carisse Moody (North Carolina State), Jenny Roulier (Colorado), Ayana Walker (Louisiana Tech), Shaquala Williams (Oregon) and Shereka Wright (Purdue).

Three individuals, Tamara Moore (Wisconsin), Loree Payne (Washington), and Lindsey Yamasaki (Stanford), will vie for the 12th and final roster spot.

University of Virginia head coach Debbie Ryan will serve as head coach of the 2001 U.S. squad and she will be assisted by University of Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder and East Carolina University (N.C.) head coach Dee Stokes. The final 12-member team will be named during the August 6-14 training camp which will be held in Colorado Springs.
