COLUMBIA, Mo.- Junior Antoine Duncan may be wearing a red jersey at practice, but on Monday the MU cornerback stood out for a different reason. The Denison, Texas native intercepted two passes in the first 15 plays of 11-on-11 drills on Monday afternoon, despite still being hobbled following off-season knee surgery.
Duncan led the Tigers in 2000 with four interceptions and was tabbed honorable mention All-Big 12, despite playing the entire season with a sore knee. Duncan is expected to be at 100 percent when fall camp opens in August.
Duncan's play on Monday was great news considering all of the news coming out of the cornerback position this spring has been bad. Junior Terrence Curry was a having a very good spring until he suffered a severe knee injury last Monday. He will have surgery later this week. Sophomore corner Michael Harden is nursing a bruised ankle and is day-to-day. JUCO cornerback R.J. Jones is the only healthy scholarship corner heading into Wednesday's practice.
ABRON CLIMBS THE DEPTH CHART Sophomore Zack Abron is the Tigers' No. 1 running back for now following an impressive scrimmage on Friday afternoon. Abron and senior Zain Gilmore have been running neck-and-neck since fall camp began last year. Both backs are likely to continue to share the bulk of the running duties this fall.
COLD DAY Missouri's new coaching staff got their first taste of a cold day on practice fields three and four on Monday afternoon. Temperatures were in the upper 40s with winds gusting around 30 mph.
