Women's DMR Automatically Qualify At Day One Of The Indoor Big 12 Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Missouri's women's distance medley relay team posted an automatic qualifying time of 11:12.81 en route to the victory at the Big 12 Conference Championships here Friday evening.

The DMR team comprised of sophomore Kerry Hils, seniors Ashley Wysong and Sunny Gilbert and junior Ann Marie Brooks have paced the Tiger women to a fourth-place day one standing. MU has 21.5 points 18 points behind the third place Aggies of Texas A&M.

Senior Michelle Moran recorded a personal best and provisional mark of 5-11.25 in the high jump (as part of the pentathlon). She finished fourth in the pentathlon with 3,772 points.

For the MU men, sophomore Russ Bell was the top finisher in the weight throw. He placed third with a 64-3.75 throw, which is a personal best and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Fellow sophomore thrower Christian Cantwell finished fifth (62-5.75). The Mizzou men are currently in a tie with Oklahoma for seventh place overall.

Sophomore Stewart Kimball will be in tomorrow's 800m finals. Senior Phil Councilor will run in the finals of the 1000m. For the women, senior Katie Meyer and sophomore Kerry Hils qualified for the finals in the mile, while senior Sunny Gilbert will run in the 1000m finals.

The action gets under way at 10:00 a.m., at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska.
