Columbia, Mo. - Head volleyball coach Susan Kreklow announced today that Jenny Bybee will attend the University of Missouri and join the Tiger squad for the 2001 season. Bybee will work at the setter position along with sophomore Chissy Elder as the Tigers look to replace Heather Gerber, Mizzou's all-time assists leader.
"Jenny will be a great addition to our team this fall," Kreklow said. "She is an excellent athlete and student with the athleticism and desire it takes to compete at a high level."
Bybee was a two-time Missouri All-State selection in 1999 and 2000 while leading Hillcrest in hitting percentage, kills, block assists and assists during the course of her career. An exemplary student, she carried a 4.91 average on a 4.0 scale and was named to the all-state volleyball academic team.
Bybee is no stranger to Mizzou and the volleyball program. While attending MU's Summer Volleyball camp in 2000, she received the "Best Setter" award.
Aside from her success on the volleyball court, Bybee placed third in the high jump at the 2000 Missouri State Track Meet and is also a member of Student Council, French Club, National Honors Society, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Bybee joins a Tiger squad that is looking to provide an encore performance to last season's 24-7 record and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Tigers will showcase great depth and an experienced senior class in the 2001 campaign.
