
Tigers' Big 12 Tourney Run Ends

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Texas A&M clinched its first Big 12 Softball Tournament championship game appearance by rallying for a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over Missouri in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Aggies used a five-run sixth inning to overcome a 5-1 deficit and knock the Tigers out of the tournament. Tiffany Esters started the scoring spree with an RBI single and eventually scored on a wild pitch. A Jamie Smith triple plated two more runs to tie the game and then an Angie Long single scored Smith to put the Aggies up for good.
Danielle Lemuth picked up the win in relief by giving up just one hit and no runs over the final three innings. She improved her record to 4-0. Missouri's Ingrid Werner, who also entered the game as a reliever, took the loss. She gave up a pair of runs on three hits and a walk in 1.2 innings while dropping to 12-10 on the season.
The Tigers appeared to be in control of the contest after scoring two runs in the first inning and one in each of the next three frames. A two-out, two-run single by Christy Skouby gave MU a 2-0 lead and then Dara Throneburg, Amy Farmer and Erin Erickson all recorded RBI singles to make the score 5-1 after five frames.
Texas A&M improved to 32-20 on the season and 3-0 in the tournament. The Aggies will face either top-seeded Oklahoma or second-seeded Nebraska in Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game.
With its loss, Missouri fell to 34-27 and 3-2 in the tournament.
