COLUMBIA, Mo. - Game four of the University of Missouri baseball Fall World Series is set for 3:00 p.m. at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.
The MU baseball team has been split in to two teams nicknamed the Bengals and the Tigers. The Bengals took the first game of the series, 12-4 on Sunday. The Tigers tied the series with a 10-3 victory Monday and took the lead in the series with a 15-9 win Wednesday, thanks to juniors Mick Weiss and Ryan Stegall, who each drove in three runs for the Tigers.
Weiss, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, drove in two of his three runs in the Tigers' six-run, six-hit third inning. With the score tied at two, freshman Andy Ruyan scored off Stegall's sacrifice fly to put the Tigers ahead for good. Senior Jon Williams singled home Wes Fewell and scored on Weiss' two-RBI single down the left field line. Weiss later scored on Lee Laskowski's double to center field.
The Tigers added four more runs in the fourth on RBI-singles from Kevin Henry and Felipe Tetelboin, a fielder's choice from Stegall and an error by the Bengals' first baseman that allowed Henry to come home.
The Bengals added three run innings in the sixth and the eighth, but five errors were too much too overcome. Junior W.T. Hoover was a bright spot for the Bengals, driving in two runs. Junior Kurt Propst and freshman Shaun Marcum each had two hits for the Black team.
On the mound today are game one starters sophomore right-hander Drew Endicott, who took the loss in game one for the Tigers. For the Bengals is senior lefty Mitch Kiler, who has a 1.29 earned run average in the series and picked up the win in game one of the series.
Freshman Shannon Wheeler leads the Tigers in batting average at .800 and Tetelboin has four RBI to lead the squad in that category. For the Bengals, freshman Bo Davis is batting .429 and junior Kurt Propst has five RBI, both tops on the team.
Game four begins at 3:00 p.m. and all series games are free and open to the public.
