Box Score

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Juniors Mick Weiss and Ryan Stegall each drove in three runs to lead the White team Tigers to a 15-9 victory over the Black team Bengals in the University of Missouri Fall World Series Wednesday evening.

Weiss, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, drove in two of his three runs in the Tigers' six-run, six-hit third inning. With the score tied at two, freshman Andy Ruyan scored off Stegall's sacrifice fly to put the Tigers ahead for good. Senior Jon Williams singled home Wes Fewell and scored on Weiss' two-RBI single down the left field line. Weiss later scored on Lee Laskowski's double to center field.

The Tigers added four more runs in the fourth on RBI-singles from Kevin Henry and Felipe Tetelboin, a fielder's choice from Stegall and an error by the Bengals' first baseman that allowed Henry to come home.

The Bengals added three run innings in the sixth and the eighth, but five errors were too much too overcome. Junior W.T. Hoover was a bright spot for the Bengals, driving in two runs. Junior Kurt Propst and freshman Shaun Marcum each had two hits for the Black team.

"The key to the game was there were too many guys on the Black team that did not show up mentally and gave up during the game," said head baseball coach Tim Jamieson.

Senior Logan Dale picked up the victory for the White team. He pitched six compete innings giving up six runs, on five hits and striking out eight. Matt Hobbs took the loss for the Bengals.

The White team now has a two games to one advantage over the Black team in the best-of-five intrasquad series.

"The White team played well tonight and they had some great at bats. Logan Dale pitched a great game," remarked Jamieson.

Game four of the Fall World Series is Fri., Oct. 20 at 3:00 p.m. and game five (if necessary) is Sun., Oct. 22, at 2:00 p.m. All series games are free and open to the public.
