Fall World Series Resumes Tonight

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri baseball team returns to action tonight in game three of the Fall World Series. The best-of-five series is tied at one win apiece.

The MU baseball team has been split into two teams nicknamed the Bengals and the Tigers. The Bengals took the first game of the series, 12-4, thanks to junior third baseman Kurt Propst, who turned in a 2-for-5, five RBI effort. Senior pitcher Mitch Kiler picked up the win in game one, going seven innings and giving up one run on six hits and striking out four.

The Tigers tied the series with a 10-3 victory on freshman Andy Ruyan's two-hit, two-RBI night. Junior Wes Fewell also drove home three runs and freshman pitcher Mike Mitchell recorded the win in six innings of work.

On the mound tonight for the Tigers is senior right-hander Logan Dale. Throwing for the Bengals is junior lefty Matt Hobbs. It the first start of the series for both men.

Freshman Shannon Wheeler leads the Tigers in batting average at .750 and Fewell has driven in three runs to lead the squad in that category. For the Bengals, Bo Davis is batting .667 and Propst has five RBI, both tops on the team.

Game three begins at 7:00 p.m. and all series games are free and open to the public.
