AMES, Iowa - In its last race before conference, the University of Missouri cross country team had a great showing at the Iowa State Pre-National meet here Saturday morning.
The ISU meet had over 60 teams entered and of those, 40 are considered top contenders on the national cross country scene.
Junior Ann Marie Brooks (21:39.20) placed 16th for the MU women. Sophomore Kerry Hils (22:07.50) came in 51st for the Tigers. For the Mizzou men, senior Nick Smith (31:41.30) came in 37th place.
"Nick and Ann Marie ran excellent races today and Kerry came on stong in the end. She picked off 15-20 runners in the last leg of the race," said Head Coach Jared Wilmes.
The MU harriers take next week off before going to the Big 12 Conference Championships Oct. 28., in Boulder, Colo.
