CAMPAIGN: The Missouri Tigers swimming and diving teams will get the new season started this Friday night at the University Natatorium with the annual Black and Gold Meet. The opening race begins at 5:00 p.m. The Missouri coaching staff will split the squad up into two teams and race each other in a short-order format. It will be the first time the team has had the opportunity to compete. The regular season gets started on Oct. 21 when the Tiger women host the University of Arkansas and the men take on Missouri-Rolla. The Tigers will also be in action on Saturday morning before the Homecoming football game at 10:00 a.m. Several former Missouri swimmers will return to take on the 2000-01 squad in the annual Alumni Meet.

TIGERS EXPECT ANOTHER EXCITING SEASON: Things just keep getting better for the University of Missouri swimming and diving program. Both the Mizzou men and women have put together landmark seasons in each of the last three years and the same is expected in 2000-01. Both of Head Coach Brian Hoffer's teams enjoyed the best year's in school history last season. A majority of those athletes that made it happen are back. The women finished the season with an all-time school best record of 9-2 in dual meets last season. In the last three years, the women have compiled a 23-7 dual record. The men also put together a school-best 6-2 record last year and are 17-9 in dual meets over the last three seasons. Another winning campaign will get Hoffer over the .500 mark for his nine-year career as the men's coach.

HOFFER HAS HIS PROGRAM HITTING 100: The number 100 has become a milestone number for Hoffer's program. Last season, the Mizzou men and women eclipsed the 100-plateau in school records broken in Hoffer's eight seasons. The men and women are just a combined six dual wins away from giving Hoffer 100 victories for his career. His overall record stands at 94-79 (54-36 women, 40-43 men). The Tigers have also achieved in the classroom under Hoffer. Missouri has had 132 athletes selected to the Academic All-Conference teams over the last eight seasons.
