COLUMBIA, Mo. - In just two weeks, the Missouri Tigers football team will make its way to Mexico, Mo. where the Tigers will call Missouri Military Academy home for one week. Head Coach LARRY SMITH's football team will hold two-a-day workouts at MMA beginning Monday Aug. 14 through Saturday morning, Aug. 19. The week long camp is sure to have an NFL training camp-type atmosphere.
The Tigers will arrive in Mexico on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 13 and will take part in a community BBQ. Tickets for the BBQ are $8.00 and can be purchased at the Mexico Chambers of Commerce, Hickman's IGA or Darbies Stores. The menu will consist of beef, pork, buffalo, ostrich, elk, baked beans, watermelon, potato chips, soda and water.
At the BBQ, fans will have a chance to get autographs from the Missouri players while being entertained by live music, the MU cheerleaders, Golden Girls and Truman the Tiger. For those with cameras, an angus steer painted black and gold will be hand for a fantastic photo opportunity.
On practice days, hospitality tents will be set up for fans wishing to watch practices and escape the heat. Beverages will be provided. Following each afternoon practice, Mizzou's radio show "Tiger Talk" will take place live from the Mexico Country Club. All are invited to talk Tiger Football.
On Wednesday, Aug. 16, a nine-hole scramble golf tournament will be held at the Mexico County Club beginning at 2:00 p.m. The fee is $100 and will include a round of golf, a Tiger Towel, a sleeve of golf balls, beverages and hors d'oeuvres followed by a live and silent auction.
