The Tigers (11-8) take on the Loyola Ramblers(1-3) Wednesday in a double header at University Field. The first game begins at 2 p.m.
Missouri had their best weekend of the season last weekend at the Easton Showcase in Fullerton, Calif. They played some of their toughest opponents yet and came out shining. Everything seemed to click as the Tigers finished the weekend 2-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of No. 7 Cal in nine innings.
Freshman Sara Vassmer is still the Tigers' leading hitter. She is averaging .377 with 20 hits in 53 at bats. Senior Amy Farmer continues in her leadership role as one of Missouri's top performers both at the plate and in the field. Farmer has a .357 batting average and leads the team in doubles. She also holds a near perfect fielding percentage with only one error on the season. Senior Stacy Gemeinhardt continues to be a consistent for the Tigers, as she has been the last three years. She is currently hitting .355 and leads the team in hits, at bats, runs scored, triples, walks and stolen bases.
Currently, the Tigers' top pitcher is Ingrid Werner. She holds a 1.42 ERA, having given up only 13 runs in 64 innings. Werner has a 5-3 record in 10 appearances with six complete games.
Stephanie Falk has worked her way back into form after struggling a little at the beginning of the season. She pitched the full nine innings against Cal on March 3. She currently has a 1.98 ERA and a 5-5 record. She has recorded 74 strikeouts in 63.2 innings.
The Low Down on the Opposition
Loyola has a 1-3 record. Their season just began last weekend in the Southern Illinois Softball Classic. They lost to Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Louisville and beat Northern Illinois.Loyola is led by Sue Stanley with a .400 average. She leads the team in hits and doubles. Aimee Martel leads the team in RBI with four.
The Ramblers top pitcher is Carole Gorecki. She has a 1.50 ERA and a 1-1 record in two appearances. She has pitched 14 innings and tallied 10 strike outs.
