
Tigers Upset Colorado

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri women's basketball team collected their second conference win of the season on Saturday night as they defeated the Colorado Buffaloes (8-7, 1-4) by a score of 63-60 at the Hearnes Center. Missouri's Kendra Jones and Kesha Bonds both hit two free throws with under 19 seconds to go to seal the win.
The Tigers (9-6, 2-3) trailed 30-27 at halftime in what was an ugly first half. Colorado jumped out to an 11-3 lead before the Tigers went on a 15-3 run to take an 18-14 lead. The Buffs answered with a 10-0 run to take a 24-18 lead. Missouri turned the ball over 14 times in the first half while forcing Colorado into 10.
Missouri led 45-43 with 11:53 to go in the game before Mandy Nightengale connected for a three-pointer to give the Buffs a 46-45 lead. Colorado went up by as many as five points, but couldn't put the Tigers away. The Tigers trailed until the 19 second mark when Kendra Jones was fouled by Nightengale. Jones hit both free throws to put Missouri up 61-60. Kesha Bonds (19 points, 11 rebounds) pulled down a missed shot by CU's Nikki Weddle and was fouled with 9 seconds left. Bonds connected on both free throws to give the Tigers a 63-60 lead. Colorado's Jenn Rouller missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.
Amy Monsees added 18 points for the Tigers and added six steals while Tracy Franklin tied a career-best with 10 points.
