COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers (19-13) extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday night with a 16-5 victory over the Billikens of Saint Louis. Mizzou's five-game streak is their longest of the season.
Missouri pounded out 17 hits against the Billikens and received another tremendous pitching performance by junior Jody Harris (5-3). Missouri fell behind 2-1 after two innings but scored five runs in the third frame against Saint Louis starter Jonathan Estes (1-5). The Tigers blew the game open with three runs in the sixth inning, four in the seventh, and three more in the eighth. Jon Williams led the Tigers at the plate with a 3-for-4 day and 4 RBI. Five Missouri players had multiple hit games including J.R. Warner who doubled twice and drove in two runs. Aaron Wilson had a hit for Mizzou extending his hitting-streak to a season long 13 games.
Harris struggled through the first two innings, but dominated the final five innings he through. Harris allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out a career-high 12. He walked three hitters on the night. Mitch Kiler pitched the final two innings for the Tigers allowing two runs, but striking out three.
The Tigers will Kansas this weekend at Simmons Field in a three-game conference series beginning Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
