
Texas A&M Claims Rubber Game

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Texas A&M Aggies (25-7, 8-3), behind a solid pitching performance by Matt Ward (2-0), took the rubber game of a three game series with Missouri (14-12, 3-9) with a 6-3 victory on Sunday afternoon in Columbia. The Aggies came into the weekend ranked No. 6 in the country.
Texas A&M jumped on Mizzou starter Justin Stine (3-3) early when Daylan Holt (3-for-5, 4 RBI) slammed a two run home run over the center field wall to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead. Holt added a second home run in the seventh inning. The Aggies added two more runs in the third inning on RBI singles by John Schechuk and Dell Lindsey.
Texas A&M led 6-1 heading into the bottom the ninth inning. With one out, J.R. Warner (3-for-4) singled. Dustin Barnes and Mick Weiss then came up with pinch-hits, Barnes being an RBI double, to cut the Aggies lead to 6-2. W.T. Hoover (2-for-5, 2 RBI), who had homered earlier, then singled off of reliever Chris Russ to narrow the lead to 6-3. After Russ retired Aaron Wilson, he walked Jake Epstein to load the bases bringing Mitch Kiler to the plate representing the winning run. Kiler ended the game by popping up to the first baseman Schechuk.
