Missouri Sweeps No. 18 Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers (34-16, 7-4) swept the Texas A&M Aggies (36-15, 4-8) in a double header today at University Field. Both teams played very sloppy, as only three of the day's 11 runs were earned runs.
None of the runs in the first game were earned runs. Neither team scored or erred until the fourth inning. In the top of the fourth Jamie Smith reached base on a walk. She would score on a fielding error and a throwing error by Missouri short stop Shawna Robinson. In the bottom of the inning Tiger senior Kim Slover reached first on an error by Aggie first baseman Angie Long. Linda Swarts reached base on a fielder's choice; Jamie Lowry drove a single to right field advancing Swarts. Christy Skouby reached first on a fielder's choice, but no one was out on the play. She advanced to second on an error by second baseman Lisa Klam and Swarts and Lowry scored. Catcher Amy Farmer hit a RBI single to the short stop scoring Skouby. No one scored again the rest of the game. The Aggies tried to rally off a Stephanie Trumbull double in the top of the seventh, but no one else was able to get on base. The Tigers won 3-1.
Angie Long started off the Aggies by reaching first on an error by Tiger centerfielder Stacy Gemeinhardt and stealing second. Tiffany Esters drove a RBI double to center field scoring Long. Jamie Smith hit a single to left field, advancing Esters to third. Esters attempted to score but was thrown out at home by Missouri left fielder Wendy Harrison.
