Mizzou Madness Tips Off Men's Basketball Season

Columbia, Mo. - The much-anticipated Quin Snyder Missouri Basketball era will get underway this Friday evening, when the men?s basketball team will host ?Mizzou Madness? to tip off the 1999-2000 season.

Mizzou fans will get their first view of Snyder and his Tiger team as they begin preparation for the upcoming season with a scrimmage after midnight on Oct. 16th, which is the first official day of practice.

Hearnes Center doors will open Friday at 10:00 p.m., and tickets are $1 at the door or in advance at the Hearnes Center ticket office. Tickets are also available for free at numerous area businesses. MU students will be admitted free.

Fans can listen to the following radio stations for details on participating businesses where free tickets can be picked up: KOOL 106.1, KFMZ 98.3, KBXR 102.3 and KPLA 101.5 in Columbia, and KJMO 100.1 and KLIK 1240 in Jefferson City.

Prior to the Tiger scrimmage, on-court activities will begin at 11:20 p.m. Scheduled to give performances are the Golden Girls, the MU Cheer Squad, Mini Mizzou and Truman the Tiger. Snyder and the Tiger players will also address the crowd prior to midnight. Additionally, the Golden Girls will hold an autograph session in the Hearnes concourse from 10:45-11:15 p.m.

Tiger fans will have the chance to come away with many exciting prizes during the evening. Prior to midnight, three MU students will have a chance to win $10,000 in tuition in a shootout sponsored by the MU Alumni Association. Additionally, at halftime of the scrimmage, one lucky fan will have a chance to win a cruise vacation in a three-point shootout sponsored by KOOL 106.1 FM and the Mizzou Credit Union. Other giveaways including T-shirts and free Pizza Hut Pizza are planned.
