The University of Missouri women's cross country teams turned in a top-10 team performance at the Roy Griak Invitational held in Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, Sept 25. The women finished fourth and were the highest finishing Big 12 team in the field that included nine top-25 teams.
Not only did the meet provide the Tigers with the opportunity to see how they stacked up against the rest of the country, it also gave MU its first look at some of the other Big 12 teams. On the women's side, Mizzou scored 178 team points (4th) while Nebraska scored 190 points earning them a fifth place finish. Iowa State place 13th while Kansas finished 24th.
The Tiger women ran well as a team as all five scorers finished in the top 60 and were separated by only 35 seconds. MU was led by junior Katie Meyer who finished 18th in a time of 18:14. Finishing right behind her was senior Anna Gullingsrud who ran the 5k race in 18:18 to place 20th. Rounding out the scorers for Missouri were freshman Amy Chipman who finished 37th with in 18:30, sophomore Ann Marie Brooks ran an 18:40 to place 44th and junior Justa Dahl was Missouri's No. 5 runner finishing 59th with a time of 18:49.
Up next for the Tigers is the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 1 in South Bend, Ind. This will be MU's first of two meets in Indiana during the month of October.
