Women's Soccer Headed to Conference Championships

November 1, 1998

For the second time in school history the Women's Soccer team heads to the Big 12 Conference Championships. As the fourth seed, Missouri takes on the fifth seed Texas on Thursday, Nov. 6 in San Antonio. On Sunday, Baylor beat Nebraska 1-0 to claim the regular season Big 12 Conference crown. Texas A&M will take on the 6th seed Iowa State on Thursday Nov. 6.

Missouri's fourth seed spot was secured on Sunday when the Tigers beat the Buffaloes 6-1 in Boulder. Forward Nikki Thole scored two goals to end her regular season with a team high, season high, and all-time high of twenty goals. She closed out the year with 46 points. Meanwhile, three Tigers had three point games. Forward Erin Grimsley, and midfielders Kristin Boeker and Stephanie Brennan all had a goal and one assist. Amy Timmerman also added to the attack when she scored in the first half off a Sarah Sallee pass. The Tiger goals were the most Colorado had scored on them this season and the most since Nebraska beat them 10-2 in 1997.

The Tigers closed out their season with a record of 9-8-1, and 5-5 in conference. They travel to San Antonio Thursday.
