Women's Golf Finishes 6th at Big 12 Championships

April 21, 1999

Boulder, Colo. - The University of Missouri women's golf team finished 6th at the 1999 Big 12 Championships, with a three-round team score of 924. Missouri entered the final round just six strokes off leader Oklahoma State, but a final-round team score of 314 dropped the Tigers from a chance at the schools' first-ever conference title. Oklahoma State wrapped up the title with a final-round 302, which gave them a two-stroke victory over Texas (906 to 908).

Missouri should find out next Monday on whether or not they will be selected to play in the NCAA West Regional. If selected, the Tigers would make their second-straight appearance, and just the second in MU history.

Sophomore JAMIE TUCKER (74-73-78=225) led the way individually for Missouri, finishing in a tie for 6th place, with a three-round total of 225. That put her just six strokes off champion Maria Boden of Oklahoma State, who won with a total of 219. It was Tucker's 2nd top-10 finish of the spring season, and her sixth-straight top-25 effort.

Junior TOBI PROBST (75-77-79=231) had a solid tournament, as the Columbus, Ind. native finished alone in 21st place with a 231 total. Probst was just four strokes out of a top-10 finish, and her 231 total represented a 54-hole season best score. She now has three top-25 finishes this season.

Senior STEFANIE MITCHELL (78-77-78=233) was MU's next finisher, as she tied for 25th place, with a 233 total. Mitchell tied for 2nd at last year's Big 12 Championships, but could never get untracked in Boulder, finishing 17-over par for the tournament.

AMELIA MOSES (76-80-79) was just two strokes behind Mitchell, finishing in 34th place with a total of 235. The sophomore from Coronationville, South Africa just missed out on her 10th top-25 finish of the 1998-99 season. She improved by seven strokes over her performance at the 1998 Big 12 Championships, but finished in the exact same position as last year, at 34th.

Making her first conference championship appearance was freshman NISHA SADEKAR (80-85-81=246), who finished tied for 54th place overall, with her three-round total of 246.
