Tiger Cross Country Competes at NCAA Championships

November 23, 1998

COLUMBIA, Mo.

- For many teams, it is all over but for the crying. But for the Missouri Cross Country team there is no need for tears.

An amazing season for both the men's and women's team came to a melancholy finish today at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Lawrence, Kan. The men finished 27th and the women 21st.

Freshman Kim Moore, who has shown great promise with three excellent meets in the post season paced Mizzou, finishing 60th overall.

Sophmore Katie Meyer returned to her second NCAA Championships and improved upon a 96th place a year ago, moving up to 92nd this year. Meyer was followed closely by Anne Marie Brooks, a stand-out freshman who finished 94th to complete her first year of collegiate competition.

The men's team was led by Nick Smith(So.) who finished 93rd overall, Adam MacDowell (So.) who finished 117th overall, and senior Ryan Pirtle, who has finished his collegiate career with three excellent races ran well and finished 152nd overall.

The Tigers were hurt in the scoring due to the fact that Owen Donahue did not finish the race.

Further information including quotes from Head Coach Jeff Pigg and a season recap are forth-coming.NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
