Thole Voted Collegiate Sportswoman of the Year

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Columbia's Women's Intersport Network has voted sophomore forward Nikki Thole their Collegiate Sportswoman of the Year. Thole earns these honors after posting a record-breaking season. She broke the Tigers' all-time goals scored record with twenty. She also is the team leader and record holder for points in a season with 46. The only Tiger to ever score a hat trick, Thole repeated that feat four times this season, once in seven minutes She also holds the individual record for points per game with seven. She also earned first team All-Big 12 Honors, a spot on the conference All-Tournament team, as well as NSCAA All-Central Region honors.

Thole will be joined by two other fellow Tigers at the luncheon. Missouri Women's Basketball Head Coach Cindy Stein will be the Master of Ceremonies. Dr. Chris Favazza of Missouri's Total Person Program is being honored as Mentor of the Year.

The Women's Intersport Network (WIN) will be holding a luncheon on Friday, February 5th at Peachtree Banquet Centers from 12-1:30. The luncheon is open to the public and those interested in attending may purchase tickets through Sarah Reeseman, Associate Athletic Director, by calling (573) 882-2061. The Women's Intersport Network of Columbia was started in 1994 in order to promote and support the importance of girls and women in athletics.
