DALLAS, TX ___ -- The Football Writers Association of America has announced 10 finalists for the Eddie Robinson/FWAA Coach of the Year Award.

All 10 names will be placed on a ballot and mailed to the more than 800 members for a vote, which will be one of the major tools in determining the winner of the award. The FWAA All-America Committee will make the final decision in late November.

The winner will be announced on the 1998 College Football Awards Show to be telecast on ESPN2 on Thurs., Dec. 10, in Orlando, Fla. The official presentation to the winning coach will be Jan. 14 in Tempe, Ariz.

The FWAA has presented a "Coach of the Year Award" since 1957. Last year, Washington State's Mike Price, a former assistant at Mizzou, won the Eddie Robinson/FWAA Coach of the Year Award.
