Hutchinson, Kan. - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished in 12th place at the 1999 Big 12 Championships, which wrapped up today with 18 holes of play. The tournament was held at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Head Coach TIM ROBYN's Tigers featured a young lineup, consisting of one junior and four freshmen. The inexperience hurt MU, as the Tigers finished with a three-round team total of 928 - a total which would have placed them fifth at last year's Big 12 Championships.
Junior DAVID SUGGS (80-75-75=230) led the way individually for Missouri, as he tied for 44th overall, with a total of 230. Suggs' season might not be over, though, as he hopes for an at large bid into the NCAA Championships. If he's selected as an individual, he will represent MU at the NCAA Central Regional, to be held May 20-22 at Columbus, Ohio.
Missouri's four freshmen rounded out the MU contingent. JANSZEN RINGO (78-78-79=232) led the foursome, tying for 47th overall. NEAL STAFFORD (74-77-83=234) was next, tying for 50th in his first Big 12 appearance. MARK McBRIDE (75-78-83=236) tied for 52nd place individually, and CORY EWERT (81-82-79=242) finished in 58th place.
