Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Tiger Track & Field men and women won 22 events overall Saturday at the Hearnes Fieldhouse as they defeated UMKC and Bradley. The MU women tallied 192 points to UMKC's 79 and Bradley's 34. The Tiger men were also victorious with 167 points, while UMKC scored 135 and Bradley 9. It was both the men's and women's second win of the season.
Among the 21 individual winners were Eli Sommerfeldt (shot put) who set a personal record at 38-10 1/2 and Kent Shelton (pole vault) who tied his personal best vault of 15-0. The Tigers swept all the middle distance running events winning both the men's and women's 600yd, 800m, and 1000m. First place finishers in those events were Ashley Wysong and Chad Shade in the 600 yd., Sunny Gilbert and Derrick Peterson in the 800m and Damien Smith and Ann Marie Brooks in the 1000m.
Other first place Tigers were Rannveig Kvalvik (long jump), Michelle Moran (high jump), Thomas Woods (400m), William Hopson (long jump), Christina Page (400m), Micah Shanks (shot out), Adam Ford (high jump), Lindsey Miller (triple jump), Michael McDevitt (triple jump), Martez Young (200m), Carlos Posey (55m), Greg Speicher (3000m), and Kim Moore (3000m). The women's Distance Medley Relay won for the Tigers as well.
Missouri travels to Ames. Iowa to take part in the Cyclone Invitational next Friday and Saturday. The following weekend, Missouri will host the All-Comers meet at the Hearnes Fieldhouse.
