Columbia, Mo. - Missouri sophomore cross country runner Ann Marie Brooks has been named to the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Fall/Winter women's team by the district members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Brooks along with nine other athletes from the district were selected for the honor based on academic achievement and athletic accomplishment. The athletes will now be placed on the national ballot for GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America status.
The Tiger sophomore carries a 4.0 GPA overall and was one of MU's top runner's last fall as the women's cross country team finished ranked 21st in the nation. Brooks was a 1998 all-Big 12 performer finishing 10th overall at the conference cross country championships and an all-Midwest Region selection at the Region V Championships finishing eighth overall and helping the Tigers to a third placed team finish at the regional.
"Ann Marie's academic and athletic endeavors really mirror each other," said Missouri Cross Country Head Coach Jeff Pigg. "She is an extremely hard-worker and the two balance each other and compliment each other very well. Ann Marie is just a great kid."
