For the first time in school history, both Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will compete at the NCAA Championships. The men received an anticipated at-large bid today, and will join the women, who were automatic due to their second place finish at the Midwest Regionals, on Monday, Nov. 23 in Lawrence, Kan.
"It has just been one of those years for the women. I think we made believers out of alot of people, since we were picked to finish eighth in the conference [in the preseason]," said Head Coach Jeff Pigg.
The men will look to reach the ultimate goal at the NCAA run.
"It's a thrill to see all of their hard work pay off," said Coach Pigg.
Although the men finished fourth at the regional championships, they were awarded one of 13 at-large bids due in part to an outstanding regular season in which they defeated many of the teams that have already qualified for the National Championships.
