For the second straight week, Missouri freshman guard Keyon Dooling has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week. The honor was chosen by a panel of media observers who cover Big 12 men's basketball.
For the week, Dooling averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 assists per game, and shot a combined 61.9 percent from the field.
In a 70-63 win against Kansas State last Wednesday, Dooling started and scored a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting. He also added five assists and three steals in 35 minutes vs. the Wildcats.
Dooling answered that with a career-high-topping 22 points in Saturday's 73-55 win against Baylor. He went 6-for-10 (.600) from the field against the Bears, and also added four assists and four steals. His 22 points was the most in a game by an MU freshman since Kelly Thames scored 24 against Syracuse in the 1994 NCAA Tournament.
Dooling is averaging 11.6 points in Big 12 play (shooting 55.8 percent from the floor), and has now scored in double figures in three straight games, averaging 18.7 points in that stretch.
