Mark Ellis won the 2009 national title as a heavyweight during his junior season to become the first Tiger heavyweight to win a national title. A two-time all-American, he went 31-3 during his championship season. He placed sixth as a senior in 2010 to cap a 22-13 campaign. He was a member of three Missouri teams that placed in the top-11 at the NCAA Championships – 11th in 2008, seventh in 2009 and 10th in 2010. He had a career record of 90-39 (.698) including 30 falls. He was only the fifth Mizzou wrestler to claim a national championship. In 2010, he won the 2010 Mizzou Wrestling Ed Lampitt Total Tiger Award for his well-rounded academic and athletic success, as well as his outstanding citizenship and how he represented Mizzou. He also was named the team’s Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2009.
