One of the most beloved figures in Missouri football history, Brock Olivo became a fan favorite and team leader through a legendary work ethic and relentless drive, helping guide the Tigers’ return to national relevance in the mid-1990s. A native of Washington, Missouri, Olivo led Mizzou in rushing three times and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards (3,026), rushing touchdowns (27) and all-purpose yards (3,475). Named Big Eight Conference Freshman of the Year in 1994, Olivo earned all-conference honors as both a junior and senior while carrying a heavy offensive load. As a senior captain in 1997, he showcased his versatility by playing on all four special teams units, earning the inaugural Mosi Tatupu National Special Teams Player of the Year Award. That same season, he helped propel Missouri to its first bowl appearance in 14 years, a berth in the Holiday Bowl. In recognition of his remarkable career, Olivo’s No. 27 jersey was retired in 2003. Following his time at Mizzou, Olivo played four seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions before launching a distinguished coaching career that has taken him to Italy, Coastal Carolina, Washington University, and NFL stops with Kansas City, Denver and Chicago. He returned home to Columbia in 2023 as a special teams assistant on Eliah Drinkwitz’s staff, continuing his lifelong connection to Missouri football.
