Sean Carlon is in his third season as assistant coach with the Missouri men’s golf program.
In his first year on campus, Carlon helped Jack Lundin post one of the best seasons in program history. Lundin was named a second-team PING All-American and a first-team All-SEC honoree, while finishing the season ranked as the nation’s No. 22 golfer. Lundin also claimed two individual titles at the Hootie at Bulls Bay and Tiger Intercollegiate with nine top-five finishes overall. As a team, the Tigers advanced to the regional rounds of the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight season – a first for the program in school history.
During his second season on campus, Trent Mierl became the second Tiger in program history to earn SEC All-Freshman Team honors after leading the team in stroke average.
Overall, Mizzou has collected two team titles with Carlon on staff, while winning four individual crowns.
Carlon joined the Tigers after spending the better part of the last decade with Mizzou head coach Glen Millican at New Mexico – first as a student-athlete from 2015 to 2019, then as a volunteer assistant before serving as an assistant coach in 2022-23.
In his one season as an assistant with the Lobos, Carlon teamed with Millican to help UNM reach the NCAA Championship Finals for the first time since 2017. New Mexico advanced by placing fourth at the NCAA Regionals before securing a final top-25 national ranking in Arizona. Carlon also helped the program claim two team tournament titles during the campaign, while mentoring a top-30 individual finisher at the NCAA Championship in Matthew Watkins, a US Open qualifier in Bastien Amat and two All-Mountain West Conference honorees.
Carlon enjoyed a standout career with the Lobos from 2015 to 2019, earning All-Mountain West Conference and GCAA All-West Region honors as a senior. In 2019, he helped lead New Mexico to the Mountain West championship, finishing second as an individual at the tournament. He was also the Lobos’ top finisher at the NCAA Louisville Regional with a sixth-place finish in his final collegiate tournament.
From 2019-22, Carlon played as a professional on various tours, while also helping the Lobos as a volunteer assistant coach. He graduated in 2019 from New Mexico with a degree in communication, while minoring in criminology.
Carlon and his wife, Brooke, reside in Columbia.
