Kevin Flanegin joined the Mizzou Volleyball staff as the director of volleyball operations in summer 2021. He has worked in operations at the collegiate and Olympic levels before joining the volleyball staff at Mizzou.
His volleyball career began in high school playing for a local club in Colorado Springs before heading to Grand Junction, Colo., to play for Colorado Mesa University's Men’s Club team.
While at Colorado Mesa, Flanegin worked as the Undergraduate Assistant Coach for the Women’s Volleyball team taking care of various assignments including DataVolley, scouting, team travel, scheduling, and recruiting.
Flanegin then spent time working at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where he was responsible for scheduling, housing, and transportation for athletes.
“We are so excited about adding Kevin to our staff," head coach Josh Taylor said. "His management skills along with his 'in it to win it' mindset will greatly benefit our staff’s efficiency in getting the job done."
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the elite staff already established at Mizzou,” Flanegin said. “This program has a lot of potential and amazing people involved, I’m just honored to play a small role in it.”
Finding himself often on the podium, Kevin took third in the Colorado State Games Roundnet tournament, third in the Silver Bracket at Collegiate Club Volleyball Nationals and first in amount of food consumed at his families Thanksgiving get togethers.
A lover of all things adventure, Flanegin spent last season as a ski instructor at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Skiing 112 days, Flanegin taught ages 8-100+ how to slide on sticks down snow. He also has completed a full distance Ironman triathlon.
Flanegin graduated from Colorado Mesa University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and received a Master of Arts in Business with a Specialization in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in May of 2020.
