Cross Country - Best 5,000m time of the season came at the Notre Dame Invitational, finishing sixth for Mizzou at 19:37.90 … Finished fourth for Mizzou at the Bradley Classic, running a season-best 6,000m time of 22:28.
Indoor Track - Ran once during the indoor season, finishing eighth in the 3,000m at the Illinois-Iowa Border Battle with a time of 11:11.40.
Outdoor Track - Ran twice during the outdoor season, competing in the 1,500m at the John McDonnell Invitational and the 5,000m at the Memphis Invitational.

Cross Country - Kayla started her season at the Illini Challenge, where she was 16th across the line on the 5000m course (19:11.00)...Bested that time at the Forest Park XC Festival, finishing 22nd in 18:45.00...Competed at the Roy Griak Invitational before traveling to the Greater Louisville Classic, where she was 29th in the Blue Race with a final time of 19:00.90 for the 5000m course...Kayla closed her season at the Bradley Pink Invitational, where she ran a new 6000m PR of 22:44.20 for 86th in the field.
Indoor Track - Kayla competed in two meets during the indoor season, starting with the Border Battle where she was eighth across the line for the 3000m run in 11:08.85...Returned home to compete in the mile at the Missouri Invitational, finishing in seventh overall (5:36.54).
Outdoor Track - Redshirted the outdoor season.

Cross Country - Kayla competed in four races during her opening season with the Tigers...Finished 19th at the Mizzou vs. Arkansas Dual, hitting 14:01 on the 4000m course...Finished consistently in the top ten for the black and gold, including at the Bradley Classic where she was the fifth Tiger across the line in the 6000m open race with a PR of 22:51.30.
Indoor Track - Redshirted the indoor season.
Outdoor Track - Redshirted the outdoor season.

Kayla competed at Parkway Central HS for coaches Ryan Banta and Kenneth Greathouse...CROSS COUNTRY...Kayla was All-State at the 2012 MSHSAA 4A Cross Country Championships...TRACK & FIELD...Was 13th in the 3200m run at the 2013 MSHSAA 4A Track & Field Championships...All-American (third) in the 3000m at the 2013 USATF Nationals...All-American (fourth) in the 3000m at the 2012 USATF Junior Olympics.

Parents are Pete and Marty Friesen...Born February 20, 1995 in Chesterfield, Mo...Dad, Pete, is a Mizzou alum and competed in both cross country and track for the Tigers...Sister, Jenna, is a senior marketing major at Mizzou...Kayla was in the top 10% of her graduating class...Served as a Student Council Delegate and was a member of Leaders of Educational and Athletic Discipline (LEAD)...Volunteered with Special Olympics for four years...Was the 2013 Army Reserve Female Athlete of the Year at Parkway Central...Earned the Bright Flight and Curators Scholarships...Was a SHarP Scholar Program recipient...Is studying Physical Therapy/Health Sciences and hopes to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
