Michaela Transue is currently in her fourth season as a member of the Mizzou Softball coaching staff and her first as an assistant coach. She spent the 2019 season as a graduate assistant with the program, before moving up to the volunteer assistant role for two seasons from 2020-21.
Transue played for Mizzou head coach Larissa Anderson when the latter was the head coach at Hofstra University.
Most recently, Transue spent the 2020 summer season as the head coach of the Myakka City RiverMocs of the Florida Gulf Coast League, a summer softball league for college student-athletes. During the FGCL's inaugural season, Transue led the RiverMocs to a 21-2 record and an FGCL Championship. For her efforts in leading Myakka City to the best record in the league, Transue was named the FGCL Coach of the Year.
With the Tigers, Transue works with the outfielders while assisting with hitting. Regarded for her work with hitters, Transue’s tutelage helped Mizzou register 157 extra-base hits in the 2019 – the highest total since the 2011. During the 2020 season the Tigers finished 15th nationally in home runs, while ending the pandemic-shortened season ranked 25th in the NFCA Coaches' Poll – the first time Mizzou has ended a season ranked since 2016.
In 2021, Transue helped Mizzou achieve one of the highest-performing offensive seasons in program history. The Tigers set a new program record with 91 home runs, tied for second in program history with 342 RBI, scored the third-most runs in a single season with 382 and hit 88 doubles, matching the sixth-best season in program history.
A four-year letterwinner at Hofstra, Transue was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association first team as a redshirt senior in 2018. In 2017, she appeared on the top 50 hitters list.
Transue played in 170 games in her career, making 166 starts in the infield. A career .286 hitter, she had 25 doubles, two triples and 18 home runs at Hofstra. A proven winner, Transue led the Pride to a 137-64-1 record during her playing career. Hofstra made three NCAA Tournament appearances over that span, winning CAA titles in 2015 and 2018.
The Chenango Forks, N.Y., native graduated from Hofstra with a master’s degree in sports science in 2018.
