University of Missouri Athletics

Cole Vertz joined the University of Missouri Sports Medicine staff in Spring 2020 as the Director of Rehabilitation and Associate Director of Sports Medicine.

His main responsibility is assisting in the coverage of football. Prior to his time at Mizzou, he served as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Kansas, director of sports medicine at the University of Wyoming and coordinator of athletic training services at Barton College.

Originally from Southwest Michigan,Vertz attended Western Michigan University earning his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training (2007). After earning his degree, he attended the Wyoming, where he covered football and wrestling from 2007-2009, also earning a master's in biomechanics.

After his time as a graduate assistant at Wyoming, he served a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs before moving to North Carolina where he was the coordinator of athletic training services for Division II Barton College.

In 2013, Vertz returned to Wyoming as the director of rehabilitation from 2013-17 and was promoted to director of sports medicine in 2017 before moving to KU in 2018.
