Alison Mosel came to Mizzou in the Fall 2012 to serve as the athletic trainer for women's basketball. She was promoted to a senior associate director of sports medicine role in fall 2021 and will continue her work with the Tigers women's basketball squad.
She has over 18 years of experience working with both men’s and women’s basketball athletes at the collegiate level. Collectively, the majority of her working experience has been in NCAA Division I women’s basketball with stops at Mizzou, Creighton and Wyoming. Prior to working in Division I women’s hoops, Mosel spent five years at Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, Iowa) where she oversaw the primary coverage of the volleyball, men's basketball, baseball and softball teams.
Alison has had a constant presence in the overall education of student athletic trainers as she was a full time faculty member early in her career at Buena Vista. She has continued serving as a clinical preceptor at every institution of employment, along with teaching adjunct classes as needed. Alison was awarded the Preceptor of the Year award in 2019 by the Missouri Athletic Training Program as chosen by the program’s students and faculty members. Alison is very proud to be a part of the educational path and development that all student athletic trainers and student-athletes choose for their personal and professional lives. She continues her educational work by serving on several committees including SEC Sports Medicine Scholarship Committee, Mizzou Athletics Committee on Inclusive Excellence (MAICE), Tiger Leadership Institute.
In 2003, Mosel completed her master’s degree (MSEd.) in health and physical education with an emphasis in physical education and administration at Northwest Missouri State University (Maryville, Mo.), while also being employed as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, providing medical services to the volleyball, softball, women’s soccer, and track & field teams at various times over her two-year stint.
She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. in the Spring of 2001 with her bachelor’s degree (BS) in athletic training with a business minor. She is certified by the Board of Certification and currently is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. Alison is a native of Orchard, Neb., and currently lives in Columbia.
