Indoor Track - John's stellar freshman debut season, which culminated in the No. 3 mark in Mizzou history for the triple jump, began at the Border Battle, where he was third in the long jump with a season's best 6.98m // 22-11...He competed in the long jump at two other meets during the indoor season, placing tenth at the Missouri Invitational (6.85m // 22-5.75) and 21st at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet (6.69m // 21-11.50)...For the remainder of the season, John focused on the triple jump, starting with a sixth-place finish at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet (15.37m // 50-5.25)...He improved on that mark during the Armory Track Invitational, taking third in the field with a top jump of 15.62m (51-3)...He was 12th in the elite field at the Tyson Invitational (15.08m // 49-5.75) before returning home to mark in with a PR jump of 15.79m (51-9.75) to win the Missouri Collegiate Challenge competition...John ended his season at the SEC Championships where he finished eighth in the triple jump field with a top leap of 15.71m (51-6.50).
Outdoor Track - John continued his historic freshman year into the outdoor season, closing with a Second Team All-American finish, a USATF Junior Championships title, and a fifth-place finish at the Pan American Junior Championships...First, though, was a sixth-place finish in the triple jump at the Texas Relays (15.71m // 5-6.50)...He followed that performance up with a second-place finish during the John McDonnell Invitational, jumping 15.41m (50-6.75)...He was second in the triple jump at the prestigious Penn Relays, marking in just behind teammate Tony Carodine with a jump of 15.58m(w) (51-1.50)...He also competed in the long jump at the Penn Relays, marking in at 7.00m(w) (22-11.75)...He defended his home track during the Tom Botts Invitational, winning the triple jump competition with a top leap of 15.75m (51-8.25)...He was also second in the long jump during the Tom Botts Invite (7.14mw // 23-5.25)...John was tenth in the long jump at the SEC Championships with a PR mark of 7.32m (24-0.25)...His ninth-place finish in the triple jump (15.65m // 51-4.25) at the NCAA West Preliminary Round was good to qualify him on to the NCAA Championships, where he was 11th in the field with a leap of 15.99m (52-5.50)...John's season continued into the post-season with the USATF Junior Championships, where he claimed the national title in the triple jump with a PR mark of 16.00m (52-6), good for No. 4 in the Mizzou history books...He closed his freshman season at the Pan American Junior Championships with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.

John graduated from Prince George HS...He was a three-time state champion in the triple jump throughout his high school career, winning titles in three different states: Texas (2012), Kansas (2013), and Virginia (2014)...He was also runner-up in the triple jump in Texas (2011) and long jump in Kansas (2013)...John is one of the top high school triple jumpers in U.S. history, holding the No. 8 mark All-Time (51-3) for the indoor triple jump...He was the national HS leader for the indoor triple jump in 2014, and ranked No. 5 for the outdoor triple jump and No. 8 for the indoor long jump...Fourth at the 2014 USATF Junior Championships in the triple jump, John went on to represent the U.S. at the IAAF World Junior Championships...He was also the 2014 New Balance Outdoor Champion in the triple jump, and third in 2013.
