2008 SPRING OUTLOOK
Walk-on Columbia native who was an accomplished linebacker at local Hickman High School, where he helped lead his team to a state title in 2004 ... Is now a defensive lineman, after starting at Mizzou as a linebacker, and he stands fourth on the depth chart at the tackle position entering spring camp.
2007 SEASON
Did not see game action in his second year in the program ... Moved to defensive line after spring camp.
2006 SEASON
Joined the team as a walk-on linebacker, but was forced to sit out the year while rehabbing from a knee injury he suffered early in fall camp ... Returned to practice in a limited fashion before the end of the year.
HIGH SCHOOL
Was a standout linebacker for hometown Hickman High School in Columbia, helping lead the Kewpies to the 2004 Class 6 state championship, with a 34-7 defeat over Hazelwood East in the title game, to cap an 11-1 season ... Served as a team captain as a senior, and he registered 94 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 6 QB sacks on the year ... Was honored on various all-state, all-district and all-area teams that season ... Made 6 tackles, including 1 QB sack, in the '04 championship game ... Had 65 tackles, including 17 TFLs and 5 QB sacks as a junior ... High school coach - Greg Nesbitt.
PERSONAL
Son of Edward & Mary Kay Schumacher ... Plans to study in MU's School of Business, with a planned major of marketing, and a planned minor in computer science ... Lists hobbies as playing video games, poker, music and fishing ... Is a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity ... As a baby, he was entered in a crawling contest at the local mall, and he won the race, and is told that his older brother was the catalyst for the victory, as his brother was at the finish line waving his bottle in the air as incentive.
