Played in Mizzou’s game at Vanderbilt (10/19) for his only action of the season as he battled injury throughout.

2018 SEASON
Saw action in eight games as he continued his development, and made his first career catch for one yard against No. 16 Kentucky (10/27).

2017 SEASON
Continued his development in the Mizzou system, and saw the field for his first career appearance against Idaho (10/21) for Homecoming ... Has the size, skills and athleticism to be an every-down contributor and in all facets of the offense ... Had a strong spring camp, and closed things down by making one catch for eight yards in the Black & Gold Spring Game.

A tight end who brings great toughness and athleticism to the position and has explosive skills with the ball in his hands … A consensus three-star recruit, ESPN and 247Sports rank Scales as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Missouri at any position … ESPN ranks him as the No. 11 tight end nationally while 247Sports ranks him as the No. 16 tight end nationally … He is also a top-25 tight end nationally by both Rivals and Scout.com … Named St. Louis American Prep Athlete of the Week on Nov. 5, 2014, after catching six passes for 185 yards and two scores while passing for another in a 40-35 upset win over Eureka in the District 1 semifinal … As a senior he caught 34 passes for 400 yards and four scores and was a standout defensive player as well, posting 42 total tackles (24 solo) with a team-high nine sacks … As a junior in 2014, Scales led Lafayette with 49 catches for 670 yards (13.7 per catch) and 12 touchdowns (one score for every 4.1 catches) … Multi-sport athlete at Lafayette High School where he also competed in the shot put and relay sprint events … Chose Mizzou over offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Nebraska, New Mexico, NC State, Ohio and West Virginia among others ... Majoring in Health Science.
