- Hit .146 with two runs and five RBI while notching his first career triple
- Hit a two-run triple against Eastern Michigan (2/28)
- Drove in a season-high two runs against Arkansas (3/26)

- Went 3-for-32 with two RBI and a walk during seven fall games

- Started 52 games as a freshman and hit .205 with a .328 on-base percentage, 15 runs, 13 RBI and five doubles, earning the majority of his starts at second base.
- Drove in a career-high three runs on a career-high three hits with a walk against Hofstra (2/26).
- Hit his first career double against Hofstra as well (2/27).
- Matched his career-high with three hits against Auburn (4/7), driving in a run and registering his fifth double of the year.
- Had a two-RBI game at South Carolina (4/22) in the series opener and then again had a pair of RBI against Tennessee (5/1) to help Mizzou complete the sweep of that series.
- Drew multiple walks in four games and multiple hits in five games.
- At one point during the year, he reached base safely in 10 consecutive games.

- A gifted young middle infielder that projects as a short stop at the next level, Nelson possesses quick feet, a great arm and good range with very soft hands
- Very good athlete that has been clocked at 4.3 seconds from home to first as he has top-of-the-order type speed from the left side
- Has been clocked at 84 MPH exit velocity in the field, making him a prime candidate for a middle infield role with the Tigers.
