2010: Tied for second on the team with nine home runs. Had 10 multi-hit and 10 multi-RBI games over the course of the season. First home run of the season came with a 2-for-4 performance against No. 2 Arizona on Feb. 21, where she drove in two runs and scored once. At the Missouri Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament, Schweisberger posted three RBI performances in two separate games. Homered and drove in a pair of runs in back-to-back games at the Demarini Invitational. Hit a home run in three consecutive games from April 24-28, blasting a long ball in each game against Texas A&M and in the first game of the Iowa State doubleheader. Wrapped up the second game of the Western Illinois twin-bill with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with a double and a home run while driving in four runs. Honors: First Team Academic All-Big 12, Second Team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 7.
2009: Seeing a significant increase in playing time her sophomore campaign, Marla Schweisberger made 45 starts, 31 at first base, and recorded the third best batting average of her teammates, .390. Schweisberger's mark stood sixth in the Big 12, while her .623 slugging percentage was third best in the league. Notching 18 multi-hit games, four in which she managed three hits, and 14 multiple RBI outings, Schweisberger led the Tigers in on base percentage (.455) and was second in slugging percentage (.623), RBI (48), home runs (eight), and sacrifice flies (three). Taking on Big 12 opponent Texas A&M, ranked 19th in the nation, in an April 4 doubleheader played in Columbia, Mo., Schweisberger crushed her first career grand slam in the second inning of game two. For her work, Schweisberger was awarded Big 12 Player of the Week honors. In Missouri's Women's College World Series opener against No. 9 Arizona State, Schweisberger notched a 2-for-3 showing that included a seventh inning home run, and was credited with two runs and one RBI. Honors: Second Team All-American, All-Midwest Region First Team, All-Big 12 First Team, Academic All-Big 12 First Team, Big 12 Player of the Week.
2008: Schweisberger recorded 10 at bats her freshman year and made three appearances in Missouri's postseason run. Taking on eventual Women's College World Series contender Alabama, Schweisberger drove in both of Missouri's runs at the NCAA Super Regional Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Schweisberger pinch hit on May 23 and reached base on balls to push across Missouri's first run of the tournament. The next day, May 24, Schweisberger went 1-for-1 and drove in second baseman Andee Allen for the Tigers' lone run of the game. Schweisberger made her first collegiate start on Feb. 27 against Saint Louis. Playing in game two of the afternoon doubleheader, Schweisberger started at first base and managed four putouts in the game.
Raytown South: Coached by Kurt Morrison, Schweisberger played at catcher for the Raytown South Cardinals and was recognized as a Wendy's High School Heisman Nominee her senior year (2007). Named the Raytown South High School Female Athlete of the Year, Schweisberger earned seven letters playing on the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Schweisberger was a two-year member of the KC Peppers softball club team. In 2007, Schweisberger was a member of the United States Speciality Sports Association All-World Team and helped the team to a National Championship.
Personal: Marla Schweisberger is the daughter of Phil and Pam Schweisberger and was born Sept. 23, 1988. One of three children, Marla has two brothers, Justin (28) and Brian (25). Justin played football at Harvard. Schweisberger is majoring in psychology.
