Former Mizzou pitcher Austin Tribby joined the Mizzou Baseball staff as a graduate assistant in 2018. The upcoming 2019 campaign will serve as his second year on staff with the Tigers.
Tribby was a standout LHP at Mizzou from 2013-16, becoming a dependable bullpen arm before being drafted as a senior in the 35th round by the Minnesota Twins. With 31 appearances in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Tribby was one of the most durable arms in program history, ranking 10th all-time in appearances in a single season with his 31 in each campaign. His 91 career pitching appearances ranks fifth in Tiger history.
Tribby returned to the University of Missouri to earn his master’s degree following a brief minor league career in 2016. In his lone season with the Elizabethton Twins Rookie Ball squad, Tribby tallied a perfect 5-0 record in 16 games pitched with nearly a strikeout an inning.
Prior to his playing career at Mizzou, Tribby compiled a 23-4 record with a 1.02 ERA in 165.2 innings pitched in his four-year career at Springfield Catholic High School under the direction of head coach Jason Daugherty. He was a two-way star in his 2012 senior campaign, hitting .340 with four home runs and 36 RBI at the plate, while posting a 10-0 record with a 0.55 ERA and 104 strikeouts on the bump.
Tribby garnered First Team All-State honors in 2011 and 2012. He also garnered First Team All-Conference and All-District designations in both seasons.
Coach Bieser on Tribby Joining the Mizzou Baseball Staff...
“Any time you can have a former player come back and join your program, it’s great. Tribby was a great competitor at Mizzou and pitched his entire career in the SEC, so he's going to be a great guy to have around as our pitchers can really lean on him for advice and mentorship.”
